The Night I Dissappeard

I'm reading the novel called "The Night I Disappeared" by Julie Reece Deaver. Julie's brother is the best seller novelist Jeffrey Deaver, who wrote the mystery/suspence novel "The Bone Collector" (The book became a movie starring Denzel Washington & Angelina Jolie).

The story is about a girl named Jamie Tessman,a daughter of the famous lawyer. She lives in California. Her mother,Min Tessman, is the famous lawyer. Her father is dead.

Min went to Chicago to defend Sally Renfro, a rich girl who killed her stepfather. Jamie went there to spend the summer vacation with her mother. Before that, she had to separate from her friend "Webb". He had been protected her since she was 9 years old, when she was left behind in the baseball ground at one night. Webb is the only one real friend of hers. He said he was going to off backpacking in Europe during this summer...... he is more than her "friend", I mean, her sort-of boyfriend.

But when she arrived in Chicago, she started to have daydreams about Webb.....which were so real. She lost the real world since then and she revived the detestable past memories she forgot for a long time........

I read this book in Japanese (The Japanese title is "Watashi ga kieta yoru") first and I loved it! It's for the young-adults I guess, but it has love, mysteries, family love, and friendships. My favorite character is Morgan, who became Jamie's best friend. She is the aspiring actress and goes to the drama school. Her aunt is the famous psychiatrist. She had a very best friend whose name was Jimmy. He had so many talents in dancing so that he could have his Broadway debut, but one day he was shot to death in the street. Morgan was shocked and she couldn't get over the shock. But her aunt helped her to recover little by little. Now Morgan is doing fine but still misses Jimmy sometimes. Jamie was getting to be crazy since she had daydreams, and Morgan thought it was time to help her as friend: being always by her side, do not think she's crazy, and always help her with everything.

I'm going to buy Julie Reece Deaver's first book "Say Goodnight,Gracie" because I heard it was good and the heroine was Morgan!! I guess Ms. Deaver will be one of my favorite authors.
